Freedom of expression is the cornerstone of democratic life and a more fair society. It is by the free exchange of ideas, experiences, emotions, among people, about how they should live together and how they should be respected within their rights and differences, that we create and sustain a democratic and humanistic society. So the rights to free association and expression are scarcely less important than the right to live in peace and free from want. In Guru Art Projects we stand up for this freedom of speech, for this overwhelming and transforming power of free creation. For us it’s of fundamental importance that the Artists we defend (most of them Outsider Artists) fell free to accomplish themselves fully using their imagination and medias, uncensored, respecting only and naturally others rights and freedom. So our speech policy won’t be ideological and will be tested with the help of Artists, Cultural Partners, different Curators and other Thinkers. “If the
freedom of speech is taken away then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep
to the slaughter.”— Nuno Quaresma March 2010 |
